More waves

Waves
He wanted to draw waves, and we couldn't work out between us how to make waves look like waves.
I've started to play with the idea, here's my first attempt at a stormy sea at sunrise. (oil pastels on soft white paper, 100g/m2).
I'm going to carry on playing with it and see what happens.

Experiments with watercolours
Then last weekend, I found an art case ( a christmas present from at least 10 years ago) and when I opened it, all the materials had been used except the watercolours (and the linseed oil - but that's for another day....)
I've been thinking about those watercolours all week, and this morning thought I'd have a play.
I've had great fun, seeing how they can be used, and I'm pleased with my first playful results.
Let me know how you use watercolours!

To start us off, here is a simple piece, playing with silver and blue acrylic paint on acrylic paper (A2size)
I started with a background of silver and blue spread across the page. The silver paint has a great texture, very different to the standard acrylic paints. Its a little like painting with mercury!
Then I squeezed lines of silver and blue directly from the tube onto the prepared background, and used the pointed end of my brush to draw lines through it.
The result is frondy and feather like. I haven'tfinished with it yet, but am happy with the effect of the silver and blue together.
